AGRICULTURE PRODUCTION PROGRAMME FOR KHARIF-2014

1.     FOODGRAINS:-

 

                 During the year 2016-17 it has been envisaged to produce 1600.00 thousand tonnes of food grains. Out of this a target of 696.50 thousand tonnes for Rabi, 2016-17 has been planned. The district wise target of Area and Production are fixed as under:-

2.                COMMERCIAL CROPS:

                    The target of Potato and Vegetables fixed for Rabi 2016-17 are given as under. During Rabi season, 20% targets of Potato and 40% targets of vegetables shall be achieved, out of the targeted  production of 195.00 thousand MT. under potato and 1500.00 thousand MT.under vegetables during the year 2016-17.

                      With a view to cover more and more area under HYV/quality seeds during Rabi, 2016-17 it has been envisaged to distribute 7650 MT certified seed of wheat, pulses and oilseeds. 4. CHEMICAL FERTILIZER:

 

              Fertilizer have been the important input of the crop production and crop yield is directly proportional to the balanced application of the fertilizers. All the extension functionaries of the Department of Agriculture will make sustained and dedicated  efforts for balanced use of chemical fertilizer. Farmers shall also be educated regarding use of bio-fertilizer, organic manure and compost so as to promote organic farming. The District wise targets of fertilizers to be distributed during Rabi, 2016-17 season are given below:-

5.      BIO FERTILIZER:

                   Organic farming is beneficial in many ways and is helpful in sustainability of soil fertility. With a view to encourage the use of bio-fertilizer and to produce, promote and distribute the bio-fertilizer, a laboratory has been set up at Shimla. To promote the use of bio-fertilizer, culture shall be distributed along-with Minikits, Demonstration Plots and in the farmers training camps also. The targets for the supply and distribution of bio-fertilizer have been fixed as under for Rabi, 2016-17:-

6.        PLANT PROTECTION:

              It is a well known fact that insect/pest/diseases and weeds if left uncontrolled, the crop production is affected considerably. With a view to increase Agriculture Production, it is very essential to adopt timely control    measures against the infestation of various insects/pests/diseases and weeds. The plant protection measures are required to be undertaken from seed treatment to the storage of crop. The District level functionaries are also responsible to enforce the quality control of insecticides under Insecticides Act. It has been envisaged to cover 98 thousand hect. area under plant protection during Rabi-2016-17 and bio agents and restrict use of chemical pesticides to the minimum level. 9.      SOIL CONSERVATION:

10.    QUALITY CONTROL:

                   48750 soil samples, 1,000 fertilizer samples, 150 pesticides and 400 seed samples samples will be analysed during Rabi 2016-17. The district wise targets for Rabi 2016-17 are as under. The field officers should ensure regular drawl of seed, soil, fertilizer and pesticides samples and month wise submission to the concerned laboratories, so as to avoid rush of work in the Laboratories.
