Seed production

Keep an isolation distance of 800 m for foundation and 400 m for certified seed production between the two varieties of sarda melon. Ripe, true to type fruits should be selected for seed extraction. Seeds alongwith placenta are scoped out with knife and placed in a container for fermenting for 24-30 hours. Seeds are then washed with running water and dried to a moisture content below 8%.
