Animal Husbandry Activities under Mid-Himalayan Developmental Project (Formerly Kandi Project)
Animal Husbandry activities under Kandi Project are being implemented in parts of Districts Solan, Sirmour, Kangra, Una and Chamba. Under this Project following facilities are being provided to livestock owners:-
• Veterinary Health Care- The existing veterinary institution under Project area are being strengthened and essential medicines are also being provided.
• Breeding- High quality semen straws are imported under the project for Artificial insemination of breedable cows and buffaloes under Project area. A buffalo Semen straw processing laboratory is being established in Nalagarh, District Solan under this Project.
• Fodder development.
• Organization of sexual health camps, awareness camps and training camps for the farmers.
Activities under District Rural Development Agency (DRDA):
Primary aim of the Project is to develop dairy enterprise as a sustainable source of income for times to come. This aim can be achieved by developing high production potential milch cattle in the State through active participation of the farmers. D.R.D.A. is running following activities for the benefit of livestock owners.
• Improvement in breeding efficiency.
• Fodder development programmes.
• Milch livestock management.
• Extension and training.
• Marketing of milk.
Milch animal improvement Projects are being implemented in following Districts through DRDA and animal husbandry department
